Over-plucked Eyebrows?

Over-plucked Eyebrows?
Over-plucked Eyebrows?

So you’ve over-plucked your eyebrows, now what?

That is a very good question. If you’ve never over-plucked your eyebrows before then you have two options, stop reading right now or start taking notes for when the unavoidable happens.

About three weeks ago I was unfortunate to have completed such a task-check that off the bucket list. Unlike most people I am still maintaining my eyebrows the old-fashion way with tweezers. I HATE pain so getting them waxed is not an option and up until now plucking has never been a problem.

I usually pluck my eyebrows right after I get out of the shower when my pores are nice and open. One faithful morning before work I got a little to “tweezer happy” and ended up  plucking one eyebrow (my right) a little too much. I basically had a panic attack for a few minutes and then started to do some research.

A lot of websites will tell you to use an eyebrow pencil and fill it in. Others will say to use eye-shadow. I opted for the latter, considering I didn’t have an eyebrow pencil on hand. Well I’ll tell you this much, the eye-shadow didn’t work that well and it was super noticeable.

The only saving grace in this matter is that I wear glasses and low and behold the glasses actually took away from the unsightly eyebrow situation that was now taking place on my forehead.

Honestly my eyebrows weren’t that noticeable until I pointed them out to people but the glasses really helped. If you do find yourself in this unfortunate situation then I recommend doing the following:

1. Try using an eyebrow pencil

2. Find a light-colored eye-shadow similar to your  eyebrow’s natural color

3. Use a tinted moisturizer especially in your t-zone, makes it look less pale and noticeable

4. Put some glasses on, even if you don’t wear them, pick up a pair of fashion ones with no prescription

The good news is it took about three weeks for that eyebrow to fill in and now it looks much better. Stay away from the tweezers for a few weeks and you’ll be fine. This little disaster has made me re-think waxing. I’ll keep you posted if I venture down that road-I may need someone to hold my hand.

How To Reuse Summer Clothes For Fall

How To Reuse Summer Clothes For Fall

How to reuse Summer clothes for Fall? Allow me to share…

Now until recently I was never really the biggest fan of Fall. Changing weather and leaves never really got me too excited and one of the biggest issues was that I always felt like I never had enough clothes to get me through the first few months. Then I discovered the easiest way to make it through Fall (without shopping).

If your like me and have just headed back to work after having the Summer off then you know how tight the wallet is at the beginning of September. Instead of trying to buy a whole new wardrobe for Fall, take what you’ve worn all Summer and just add a few key pieces.

Lets talk about dresses

  • Causal Summer dresses are not the best for this chilly morning weather we are having. One of the best things to do is to throw on some leggings underneath your dress.

A tip for strapless dresses: Put on a t-shirt (color corresponding) to the dress and simply wear the strapless dress over the shirt. It will look like it belongs and will also be weather appropriate.

  • Another great piece to add to the dress and leggings are a pair of boots, I find that riding boots work better (more casual in nature) and also a long boyfriend style sweater.
  • Light layers seem to be the trick to dressing for Fall.

Who wear’s short shorts?

If you spent all Summer long going out in your short shorts, have no fear you do not need to put them away just yet.

  • Tights/leggings make the perfect addition to these shorts. Now before you tell me how you can’t pull this look off, think again. I recently pulled this look off in Denver, CO where the weather is just a bit cooler in the beginning of June. It is a look that once you dive into , you’ll be just fine.
  • As far as shoes go, try on a pair of heels or a short bootie. I went for the latter.

Last but not least lets not forget about our t-shirts

I don’t know about you but I practically live in t-shirts year round. There is so much you can do with them.

  • One of my favorite accessories for Fall is a blazer. Throwing on a blazer over a plain t-shirt can add so much to an outfit. Blazers work well with jeans, shorts, and even dresses.

If you haven’t already invested in a blazer you should do so. They can be quite the lifesaver.

That being said, just because the cooler weather is upon us and Fall is knocking on the door, don’t let that ruin your wardrobe.  I think you’ll find with time that Fall is actually a GREAT time for clothes and working those options.  And lets face it that’s half the fun in being a girl or someone just obsessed with fashion. So now you know how to reuse your Summer clothes for Fall, enjoy!

Barefoot Wallets: A Traveler’s Best Friend

Barefoot Wallets: A Traveler’s Best Friend

On a recent trip to Denver, Colorado for the beloved Tbex conference I was introduced to Mark Walsh, the maker of Barefoot Wallets.

Barefoot Wallets are handmade one of a kind wallets for all your traveling needs. Not only do they look amazing but they are extremely functional.

My Passport Style Wallet

Here’s the skinny:

  • Made from a laminate-composite that has Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, and Pentex at its core.
  • These fibers are bonded between a plastic Mylar film to produce a cloth that is extremely thin, light, and waterproof.
  • They can be personalized: We can make your wallet even more unique by hand-writing your name and/or date of purchase on the inside tag. This is a free service, and is just one way we ensure that your wallet will be right by your (back)side on all of your jaunts, and through all of your journeys.

So if all of that exciting information wasn’t enough for you, I can speak from experience when I tell you I put this wallet to the test on my latest trip to Costa Rica.

I was armed and dangerous with the passport style wallet when entering San Pedro, Costa Rica.  Not only was this wallet fashionable (you know I love fashion) but it literally held everything that I could possibly need. There ALMOST wasn’t a need for a purse.

Such as:

  • My iPhone
  • Credit Cards
  • ID
  • Passport
  • Money

Everything I could possibly need

Truth be told I was given an awful lot of compliments on this wallet and I couldn’t have been happier. My only recommendation would be to keep a change purse with you for all those annoying coins.

This wallet is defiantly coming on every trip that I take in the near future. Perfect isn’t even the word I could use to describe this. I would highly recommend a Barefoot Wallet for your next adventure.

What SHOULD Be In Your Beach Bag This Summer

What SHOULD Be In Your Beach Bag This Summer

It’s almost summer ladies and gents and that means pulling out the old sunblock, beach towels, and flip flops.

What some of us tend to forget is that most of our “old” summer essentials probably need replacing.  Its force of habbit to just grab the same bag with everything you left in from last year. (we are all guilty of it)

So here is a list of some new items you should pick up for this years beach escape.

1. New sunblock, throw away any sunblock more then a year old.

Staff pick: Australian Gold SPF 30 Spray

2. De-Tangle Spray, a common item often not thought of to bring to the beach. If you have little one or even if you find your self body surfing a lot, de-tangling spray will keep your hair tangle free  while you enjoy the sun.

Staff pick: Johnson & Johnson

3. Wet wipes, even if you don’t have kids, these work out perfectly for keeping sand and too much sunblock off your hands.

Staff pick: Wet Ones

4. Floppy Hat, pretty self explanatory, but it will keep your scalp from burning and actually make sitting in the sun longer and enjoyable.

Staff pick: Target

5. Hair elastic or hair clip, keep an extra one on you at all times at the beach, it will keep your hair out of your face and managable.

Staff pick: CVS

Add this list to your beach bag and have a never fail beach day, everyday!
